Of Tears and Books

Let's face it. John Green is probably one of the best romance authors of our generation, and 'The Fault In Our Stars' is by far the BEST book he wrote (in my opinion, though). The book is a story about two teenagers who met in an unusual way in an unusual situation (yes, I'd leave it like that). It's tearfully beautiful, almost perfect , and most (if not all) people cried after reading the said novel. Even I bawled when I read the book, and well, I don't really know how to describe that book. It's just.... Perfect.

Anyways, when I first heard that there will be a movie based on the book, I was ecstatic! After watching the trailer for the first time, I was already on the verge of tears. My friends and I wanted to watch it together, so we planned about it even if the movie was practically a year away. Now that it's currently showing, we immediately re-planned, and just a while ago, it was accomplished. After a year of waiting, we FINALLY watched the movie.

Shailene Woodley (Hazel Grace Lancaster) and Ansel Elgort (Augustus Waters) were PERFECT for the role. When I first saw the trailer, I was like 'Oh my Gosh, these two are perfect for the role!'. They embodied these two fictional characters like they were them, if you catch my drift. The lines were delivered flawlessly, and I couldn't be more pleased. In short, the movie was beyond awesome, and it made me cry a lot, I swear. It even reached to the point that some of the people watching were already scolding my friends and I because of our crying fit. It was too emotional and heartbreaking to bear.

That was a total rant. I just really want to tell the world how perf that movie was. If you're reading this and you haven't read the book or watched the movie, you should really read it. And watch it. PRONTO. Oh, and please listen to 'All Of The Stars' by Ed Sheeran. It's one of the movie's sound tracks and it's literally a tear-jerking song. That's all, I guess!

But I believe in true love, you know? I don't believe that everybody gets to keep their eyes or not get sick or whatever, but everybody should have true love, and it should last at least as long as your life does.”

Don't Believe the Fairytale

How did you spend your childhood? What was your favorite movie when you were young? Mine was almost all movies of the Disney Princesses, especially Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella. I mean, almost every girl once wished to be a princess, to have a dashing gown, to live in a glorious castle, and a Prince Charming, right? I was one of those girls, and so I spent my childhood watching these gentle princesses evolve into chivalrous women (in gowns).

Last May 28, 2014, Disney released another magnificent movie which was first showed in the Philippines. The “villain” in Aurora’s tale shares her own story in the movie Maleficent, which reveals the real story behind Sleeping Beauty. The amazing Angelina Jolie (I love her so much!) plays the role of Maleficent, and sweet Elle Fanning plays the role of Aurora in this spectacular movie! Who knew that there was a reason why Maleficent was angry with King Stefan? Who knew that Maleficent once had wings? Who knew that there was a reason behind the curse she bestowed on Princess Aurora? And lastly, who knew that Maleficent was not even the villain? The poor fairy was blinded with hatred, but I am not going to tell you why! I said too much spoilers, didn’t I? As our summer break nears its end, make sure to watch this movie before you start school!

Watch the movie’s trailer here.

Aurora, there is evil in this world; hatred and revenge. And I cannot keep you from it.” – Maleficent
